Gwen Soriano is a multimedia journalist and digital marketing professional with a strong foundation in storytelling, content strategy, and audience engagement across platforms.
Based in Southern California, Gwen graduated in 2023 from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a Bachelor of Science in Communication. During her time at Cal Poly Pomona, she worked as a newsroom writer for The Poly Post. She primarily covered arts & culture, where her reporting earned recognition from the Society of Professional Journalists — placing first in the Society of Professional Journalists’ National Region 11 Awards and placing as a finalist in the Mark of Excellence Awards for her work in student-run journalism.
In her post-collegiate work, Gwen began working as a news writer for Outlook News Group, a network of community newspapers serving the San Fernando Valley. In this role, she reports on local government, education, and community affairs across multiple outlets.
She has also gained hands-on experience in digital marketing, content creation, brand communications, and public relations. Her work has involved developing social media strategies, managing digital campaigns, and producing multimedia content — including video features, graphics, and copy — for various clients and organizations.
In addition to newsroom reporting, Gwen has contributed to independent media projects as a video producer, reporter, and editor, focusing on community stories and underrepresented voices.
Outside of her staff writing position, Gwen continues to freelance in content development and creative direction, while seeking opportunities to grow in the fields of journalism, marketing, and digital media production.
